5 aspects should be considered comprehensively for Pin Header and Scocket selection

As an electronic engineering personnel should know that the operation of the pin and female connector in electronic products will affect the function of the entire equipment, so the selection of the appropriate quality of the Pin Header and Scocket can bring twice the result with half the effort. So how do we choose a suitable quality pin and female connector? We can consider the following five related aspects:

1. Connector type

What kind of products to connect, where to use these issues are the first to consider, which determines the type of connector selected. The location where the connector is used (indoor, outdoor, corrosive environment, etc.) will affect whether to enhance the sealing of the aviation plug or to add a covering housing over the insulating body. The type of connector determines which terminals to use and how many conductive terminals to arrange. Of course, this also involves some terminal skills reference.

2. Electrical requirement

When selecting a Pin Header and Scocket, the electrical requirements of the product should be considered. What kind of voltage and current requirements the product has, whether the connector can be used well in such electrical properties these questions about electrical requirements are needed for us to consider. In addition, we also need to consider some other electrical conditions: resistance, allowable resistance change, millivolt drop, maximum current value, maximum voltage value, influx current value, characteristic impedance, VSWR(voltage standing wave ratio), insertion loss and EMI covering efficiency.

3. Environmental requirement

Temperature, humidity, and other environmental conditions are determined by the location of the connector, so that location and the expected environment should be taken into account. The applicable shelf life of other relevant storage conditions and what information is available. The description of the environment should also cover shock and oscillation requirements, including those arising from shipping, as well as production environmental conditions such as welding temperature and welding cycle continuation time. The connector supplier indicates that the highest temperature occurs around the aggregate continuing current guided by the pin and female connector.

4. Mechanical performance requirements

For the connector, what volume and footprint are useful: what is the allowable scale of the terminal insertion and dial force is how durable the connector (the frequency of plug and pull cooperation)? These elements are to be considered when selecting electrical connectors

5. Specifications

Connector suppliers can choose about 25 test bodies (specifications developed) as the source of all or part of their connector test specifications. Consideration must be given to the selection of appropriate test specifications for specific use cases, including international conditions.
